Apalachicola River’s Tupelo Honey

beekeeperWelcome to Florida Tupelo!

• Tupelo Honey is found in North Florida along one of the richest river basin eco-systems in the state. The swamps along the Apalachicola River valley produce the purest Tupelo honey.

• Tupelo honey comes from the White Ogeechee Tupelo Tree which only produces 3-4 weeks of blooms.  White Tupelo has a short blossoming season from April to May and must be harvested before the Gallberry starts to bloom.

• Apiary dates from the 1650s, and beekeeping as an enterprise is even older, dating back to ancient Egypt.
